The new update of the guideline 'Chronic Heart Failure' was recently published by Domus Medica and Worel. This partial revision of the 2011 guideline is intended to provide general practitioners with a basis for diagnostic and therapeutic decisions for heart failure patients in primary care. The Belgian Heart Failure Working Group (BWGFH) has developed a complementary multidisciplinary care pathway to improve collaboration between heart failure specialists and general practitioners and to formulate concrete practice-oriented advice.
The Multidisciplinary Care Pathway Heart Failure has been published in the form of a website that is easily accessible and where targeted scientific information and practical advice can be found. An attempt was made to present the information in concise texts, summary tables and flowcharts that are easy to consult during a consultation or contact with the patient or as a reference work.
The website will be available in 3 languages and will also be kept up-to-date based on the latest national and international guidelines. Useful information about groundbreaking studies, availability of new medication, medical need programs, stock shortages of medication, etc. will be published on this website. In this way, the BWGHF will attempt to provide a reliable and up-to-date forum in Belgium where every healthcare provider can easily find state-of-the-art information regarding the care of heart failure patients.
If you are interested, we at the BWGHF would like to explain the new guideline for chronic heart failure for general practitioners and the multidisciplinary care pathway. We would prefer to do this in person during a meeting with an accompanying presentation. If you are interested in planning a meeting, you can submit a request via the contact form below. We would like to provide a BWGHF member as a speaker in the relevant region. The content of the care pathway was developed by the members of the BWGHF, but the financial support of the website is partly provided by our industry partners. They are also prepared to sponsor any live meetings and can be contacted without obligation.
